Michael Jackson, King of Pop, dead at 50It is still so hard to believe this shocking news. I was stunned and extremely saddened. My heart aches thinking about that one part of MUSIC just died. A legend is forever gone. I watched most of the news coverage about him on diffrent TV channels tonight and now I am reading online about him. I could not stop my tears. I loved his music. He was such a talented composer, musician, dancer and one of the best performers and entertainers of all time. He will always be remembered. His music will be played as long as we can listen. May the King of Pop rest in peace. My condolences and prayers for his family, friends and fans all over the world.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson (1958-2009). It's a new day!Another great song by Will I AM, coming out the next day after Barak Obama was elected The president of the United States of America. Yes, it was a new day for millions of people!
I went asleep last night Tired from the fight I've been fighting for tomorrow All my life Yea I woke up this morning Feeling brand new 'Cause the dreams that I've been dreaming Have finally came true It's a new day It's a new day It's a new day It's a new day It's a new day It's been a long time coming Up the mountain kept runnin' Souls of freedom kept hummin' Channeling Harriet Tubman Kennedy, Lincoln, and King We gotta invest in that dream It feels like we're swimming upstream It feels like we're stuck inbetween A rock and a hard place, We've been through the heartaches And lived through the darkest days If you and I made it this far, Well then hey, we can make it all the way And they said no we can't And we said yes we can Remember it's you and me together I woke up this morning Feeling alright I've been fightin' for tomorrow All my life Yea, I woke up this morning Feeling brand new Cause the dreams that I've been dreaming Have finally came true It's a new day (it's a new day) It's a new day (it's a new day) It's a new day It's a new day! It's been a long time waitin' Waiting for this moment Been a long time praying Praying for this moment We hope for this moment And now that we own it For life I will hold it And I ain't gonna let it go It's for fathers, our brothers, Our friends who fought for freedom Our sisters, our mothers, Who died for us to be in this moment Stop and cherish this moment Stop and cherish this time It's time for you and me For us and we That's you and me together I woke up this morning Feeling brand new Cause the dreams that I've been dreaming Have finally came true Yea, I woke up this morning Feeling alright 'Cause we weren't fighting for nothing And the soldiers weren't fighting For nothing No, Martin was dreaming for nothing And Lincoln didn't change it for nothing And children weren't crying for nothing It's a new day It's a new day A new day It's a new day It's a new day! Yes we canThis is an amzaing song. This is how each individual can make the change.
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can. It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom. Yes we can. It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness. Yes we can. It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land. Yes we can to justice and equality. Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can heal this nation. Yes we can repair this world. Yes we can. We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. (We want change.) We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea: Yes We Can. p.s. Yes We Can" is a collage style music video inspired by a speech delivered by Senator and now President-elect Barack Obama following the 2008 New Hampshire primary, derived from similar union catch cries. The song was released on February 2, 2008 by the Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am on Dipdive.com and also on YouTube under the username 'WeCan08' [1]. It was honored with the first-ever Emmy Award for Best New Approaches in Daytime Entertainment [2]. The term "Yes We Can!" became a secondary slogan for Barack Obama's campaign.

听了无数遍,在我和先生都能跟着广告片唱出这首歌的时候,我们俩同时把头转向对方,说,we have to find this song and get the CD。 三分钟之后,先生说,找到了,是Ingrid Michaelson 唱的The Way I Am。
THE WAY I AM
If you were falling, then I would catch you. Cuz I love the way you say good morning. If you are chilly, here take my sweater. Cuz I love the way you call me baby. I'd buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair. Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
take him/her the way he/she is...
Over the Rhine
当2001年他们的专辑FILMS FOR RADIO发行时,Over the Rhine显然已经再也不是当地的小乐队了。
I Want You To Be My Love就传达了这种情感。
I want you to be my love 07年8月21号,Over The Rhine预订发行新专辑《The Trumpet Child》。

If A Song Could Be President

Lucia di Lammermoor scene

Turandot
Schubert's Ave Maria - Pavarotti, Bono & U2 live
P.S. WAR IS ALWAYS THE CHOICE OF THE CHOSEN WHO WILL NOT HAVE TO FIGHT

U2 frontman Bono has paid tribute to the late tenor Luciano Pavarotti on the band's website. Here is his full message------
Some can sing opera, Luciano Pavarotti was an opera. No one could inhabit those acrobatic melodies and words like him.
He lived the songs, his opera was a great mash of joy and sadness; surreal and earthy at the same time; a great volcano of a man who sang fire but spilled over with a love of life in all its complexity, a great and generous friend.
Great, great fun, The Pavlova we used to call him. An emotional arm twister if he wanted you to do something for him he was impossible to turn down. A great flatterer.
When he wanted U2 to write him a song he rang our housekeeper, Theresa, continually so we talked about little else in our house.
When he wanted U2 to play his festival in Modena, he turned up in Dublin unannounced with a film crew, and
door-stopped the band. His life and talent was large but his sense of service to the weak and vulnerable was larger. We wrote Miss Sarajevo for him. He had worked on the humanitarian crisis that was the war in Bosnia. We travelled together on a UN air force flight to Mostar... all of us earnest in hard hats, just about strapped into this industrial aircraft with the big man handing out parmigiano from Reggio Emilia, "the best cheese in the world" he kept saying, deadpan, to make us laugh. In Pesaro, in his summer house, he lived an almost bohemian life with a recording studio set up in an out house - but did all his vocals in his bedroom... there was a hammock hung between two marine pines for a siesta. He liked to eat, sleep and then warm up his vocals, though I remember more eating than warming up. When we first recorded with him I left a stone heavier than I arrived.
Intellectually curious, couldn't stick to his own generation - loved new ideas, new people, new song forms.
A sexy man whose life lit up again when he fell in love with Nicoletta and as he watched Alice play in the yard.
He loved all his daughters so much. The sadness of losing his only boy his only silence. I spoke to him last week... the voice that was louder than any rock band was a whisper. Still he communicated his love. Full of love.
That's what people don't understand about Luciano Pavarotti. Even when the voice was dimmed in power, his
interpretive skills left him a giant among a few tall men. **********************************************
Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, who teamed up with Pavarotti and Jose Carreras for the "Three Tenors" performance in 1990:
"I always admired his divine voice, with its unmistakable timbre and complete vocal range. I loved his wonderful sense of humor. Sometimes in our concerts with Jose Carreras we forgot we were performing before a paying audience, because the three of us were having so much fun."
Spanish tenor Jose Carreras, the third in the trio:
"It's a great loss, not just of one of the best voices ever, but of a close friend. We always had a good relationship. I am happy to have known him. He was without doubt one of the most important tenors of all time. He was a wonderful man, a charismatic person. And a good poker player."

In a statement, the Royal Opera House said Pavarotti’s legacy would be that he brought opera to millions of
people who may never have come across it otherwise. The statement said: "Luciano Pavarotti was one of the finest singers of our time; he gave so much pleasure to audiences, musicians and staff at the Royal Opera House over many years. "But ours was not a unique experience, he was one of those rare artists who affected the lives of people across the globe in all walks of life. "Through his countless broadcasts, recordings and concerts he introduced the extraordinary power of opera to people who perhaps would never have encountered opera and classical singing, in doing so he enriched their lives. That will be his legacy. "We count ourselves lucky at the Royal Opera House to have had wonderful farewell performances from him in January 2002 when he sang in Tosca, despite the death of his own mother in the final stages of rehearsals. "The applause on those evenings was probably the most moving and heartfelt in the history of The Royal Opera "He had a unique ability to touch people with the emotional and brilliant quality of his voice. He was a man with
the common touch and the most extraordinary gift. He will be truly missed by millions."
We Can't Make It Here Anymore - by James McmurtryThere was more truth in the first two minutes of "We Can't Make It Here Anymore", than there was in eight months of a presidential election campaign. The raw truth is often hard to digest at first. Even for those of us who seek it most ....

I personally think it is a very powerful song. Although I don't agree with the song writer completely, I do think he brought up quite some issues that the current American society is suffering into people's attention. It worth us putting some thoughts into it. And I admire him for voicing up his opinion and drawing public's concern about those social issues. Also I think the video person did a great job. Some of the images are quite shocking.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME。 I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO。 在他八十岁生日之际,唱片公司聚集了一群最为著名的歌手与他共同演唱他最著名的单曲,这些艺术家包括U2的主唱BONO,Michael Bublé, Elvis Costello, Celine Dion,Dixie Chicks, Billy Joel, Elton John, Juanes, Diana Krall, k.d. lang, John Legend,Paul McCartney, Tim McGraw, George Michael, Sting, Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, and Stevie Wonder.
At this point, who else but Tony Bennett would have the clout to round up stars on the scale of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bono, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand for some duets? (Note also that unlike some similar projects, all the parties involved on this CD were alive when it was recorded!) The material consists of relatively obvious classics in standard big-band arrangements, and Bennett himself is in top form at age 80, so much so that he doesn't need anybody else to handle "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." But the fun comes from checking out how his collaborators fare. The Dixie Chicks provide wonderful Andrews Sisters–type harmonies on the percolating version of "Lullaby of Broadway" that opens the festivities. The best songs tend to be the ones where Bennett's slightly craggy voice is juxtaposed to smooth female ones, like Diana Krall on "The Best Is Yet to Come," familiar accomplice k.d. lang on the sultry "Because of You" and Streisand—-perhaps Bennett's only equal in stature at this point—on "Smile." Among the less expected guests, soulman John Legend is a revelation on the hard-swinging "Sing, You Sinners," while George Michael confirms he’s quite the crooner on "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" Elvis Costello, Celine Dion or Juanes don't sound as comfortable, and sometimes it feels as if they overdo it to compensate, but overall this collection is among the best of its kind, with most guests rising to the occasion. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
得,该去看David Latterman的late show了。
TV Show What about Brian,其中有一首主题歌calling all friends.
他们每个人的声音都非常好听,轮流主唱不同的歌曲,他们演奏的歌曲中我最喜欢的是can't live without your love和one step up two steps back,后一首中,Dave使用了曼陀铃来作伴音,感觉好极了。

借花献佛--送首好歌-- I NEED TO WAKE UP今年奥斯卡颁奖典礼上,MELLISSA ETHERIDGE的一首I NEED TO WAKE UP, 听得好感动。
I NEED TO WAKE UP出自纪录片INCONVENIENT TRUTH,好像是其中的主题歌。
I NEED TO WAKE UP
Have I been sleeping?
I’ve been so still Afraid of crumbling Have I been careless? Dismissing all the distant rumblings Take me where I am supposed to be To comprehend the things that I can’t see Cause I need to move I need to wake up I need to change I need to shake up I need to speak out Something’s got to break up I’ve been asleep And I need to wake up Now And as a child I danced like it was 1999 My dreams were wild The promise of this new world Would be mine Now I am throwing off the carelessness of youth To listen to an inconvenient truth That I need to move I need to wake up I need to change I need to shake up I need to speak out Something’s got to break up I’ve been asleep And I need to wake up Now I am not an island I am not alone I am my intentions Trapped here in this flesh and bone Oh I need to move I need to wake up I need to change I need to shake up I need to speak out Something’s got to break up I’ve been asleep And I need to wake up Now I want to change I need to shake up I need to speak out Oh, Something’s got to break up I’ve been asleep And I need to wake up Now |
